Painting session 2

Painting session 2

BSBCRT301 Develop and extend critical and creative thinking skills

Creative thinking involves looking at things differently, musing, testing, experimenting and challenging existing thought patterns. Creative thinking can be learnt and applied through thoughtful application of skills related to observation, analysis, reflection, problem solving, evaluation and critical appraisal.

BSBDES201 Follow a design process

This studio-based unit is about purposeful problem solving – defining the challenge, coming up with ideas, working with others to develop ideas, reflecting on progress, presenting an idea so it can be implemented and, of course, evaluating whether an idea has met the original challenge.

BSBDES301 Explore the use of colour

This unit involves the effective use of colour, and understanding the basics about the way colours work. Students work on small colour projects using a variety of paints, to demonstrate their understanding of colour theory.

BSBDES302 Explore and apply the creative design process to 2D forms

Here you learn to apply the creative design process to the development of 2-dimensional forms. The unit underpins many other specialised design units, as it explores the basic elements and principles of design, particularly in relation to graphic design.

BSBDES303A Explore and apply the creative design process to 3D forms

In this studio-based unit you investigate and reflect on how a particular concept or idea might be communicated in a 3-dimensional form. You are encouraged to experiment on, explore and challenge a range of different ideas to meet the requirements of the brief.

BSBDES304 Source and apply design industry knowledge

Here you will source and apply information on the structure and operation of the design industry, gain knowledge on employment obligations and opportunities that impact on designers, and seek information on new design technology. You will also learn about ethical and legal work practices in the design industry.

BSBDES305 Source and apply information on the history and theory of design

In this unit you will develop and maintain a general knowledge of design history and theory. Research is conducted into the history and theory of graphic design and this is applied, incorporated and integrated into your own design activities.

BSBDES401 Generate design solutions

Here you will learn to generate design solutions in response to a particular design need. The starting point may be an open or closed brief, a spontaneous idea, modification of an existing product, service, process or system, or a point in an ongoing design process.

BSBDES402 Interpret and respond to a design brief

This unit involves interpreting design briefs, exploring and developing design concepts, liaising with clients, and producing prototypes as part of the production process.

BSBEBU401 Review and maintain a website

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake data analysis, review website content and update and maintain a website.

BSBWHS201 Contribute to health and safety of self and others

This unit provides a fundamental knowledge of OHS for individuals to carry out their own work which may be in a defined context under direct supervision or with some individual responsibility. This has broad applicability across industries and workplace contexts.

CUAACD301 Produce drawings to communicate ideas

In this unit you will experiment with a range of drawing techniques and are expected to show some command of those techniques. Techniques and materials are explored to determine how they may be used to communicate ideas for specific presentation contexts.

CUADIG305 Produce digital images

Students will develop their expertise with digital imagery through the exploration and application of a range of techniques, tools, equipment and materials.

CUAGRD401 Research and apply graphic design techniques

In this unit you will learn to interpret work briefs, organise resources, test ideas, and refine approaches to a range of design challenges.

This unit explores and integrates colour theory and design processes into two-dimensional or three-dimensional work. You will achieve solutions by working with the fundamental elements and principles of design and different aspects of colour.

CUAGRD302 Use typography techniques

You are introduced to typographical terminology and nomenclature, and work on projects that require investigation and resolution of type-based design briefs. This unit is entirely studio-based, and is a prelude to further exploration of type selection and formatting on the computer.

CUAGRD401 Research and apply graphic design techniques

In this unit you will learn to interpret work briefs, organise resources, test ideas, and refine approaches to a range of design challenges.

CUAILL401 Research and apply techniques for illustrative work

This unit requires you to experiment with various materials, equipment and techniques to produce illustrations. Adobe Illustrator is introduced, and you will work between the computer room and studio to produce a range of work that interprets given briefs.

CUAPPR201 Make simple creative work

In this unit you will use visual representation and design tools to help in the development of ideas, and identify ways to develop your own creative work practices. You will be encouraged to develop and review your creative work, and choose appropriate ways of communicating concepts.

CUAPPR301 Produce creative work

You will plan and produce creative work, and refine ideas through experimentation with techniques specific to the creative work and the use of visual representation and design tools.

CUAPPR304 Participate in collaborative creative projects

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to make a contribution to a collaborative creative project. It includes the technical and teamwork skills to work in this context.

CUAPPR401 Realise a creative project

The process of experimenting with ideas and techniques to find an individual style or voice takes place in this unit, in the context of a whole project conceived and realised over time. The project results in completed work, which is then evaluated for efficiency and effectiveness.

CUAPPR405 Develop and discuss ideas for own creative work

Included in this unit is information research and analysis, as well as participation in critical and informed discussion with others about creative work.
