DIPLOMA in TEACHER ASSISTANT (51784)


COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diploma in Teacher Assistant course enables graduates to work as qualified teacher’s assistants in either the public or private educational sector with children aged from 3 – 15 years.  Graduates from the Diploma course will be efficient organisers, communicators and administrators and will lead to a role involving management and the supervision of other staff. 

 

During their training, students are able to supplement the theory provided by the trainers with an ongoing practical work placement.

 

On completion of this course, graduates have the option to enter the workforce or proceed to further studies at University.  The support of Murdoch University will facilitate articulation from the Diploma to a Degree related to teaching.

COURSE DURATION
One  year  - includes a weekly work experience component

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Completion of Certificate III in Teacher Assistant or equivalent. Upon acceptance of enrolment, students need to provide a current medical clearance, and a police clearance.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates will be trained in the skills to assist with planned educational programs and work effectively in the educational environment.

 

The Teacher Assistant qualifications are recognised by the Office of Education in Western Australia, and by the Catholic Education Office and the Association of Independent Schools in Western Australia.
