Certificate II in Community Services Work (Childcare Focus) is a short course designed for students who want to experience an introductory course in childcare. Students who decide to continue on to the Certificate III in Children’s Services will be granted some advanced standing. There is no work experience offered with this program.

CHC30708 CERTIFICATE III IN CHILDREN’S SERVICES (CRICOS Code: 072011A)
Students learn everything they need to know about child development to be able to provide quality, professional care to children aged 0 – 12 years. Students learn to adapt to the ever-changing needs of individuals and families in a culturally sensitive way. Skills are acquired to provide a positive nurturing environment, offering programs that challenge children to develop their intellectual, physical and social skills.
The course combines classroom learning with weekly practical work experience in a childcare centre to equip graduates with a solid foundation in the essential competencies required to work as a centre-based caregiver. Graduates will use organisational policies, procedures and individual children’s profiles to plan activities and provide care for children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. Graduates are trained to work as a childcare assistant, family day carer or nanny.
DURATION – One Semester – 18 weeks

CHC30808 CERTIFICATE III IN EDUCATION SUPPORT (CRICOS Code: 072012M)
This course will equip graduates to work as a qualified teacher’s assistant in either the public or private educational sector with children aged from 3 – 15 years. Students are trained in the practical skills and knowledge to assist the teaching staff in schools and provide care and supervision for children. Students learn how to assist with planned education programs, as well as contribute to the safety and health of students and support students with additional needs. Students will also learn how to work with children and young people at risk of harm, working effectively within the culturally diverse environment.
Work undertaken by Teacher Assistants with a Certificate III will be under the direct supervision of a teacher or supervisor. Students are able to supplement the theory provided by the trainers with an ongoing practical work placement in an educational environment.
On completion of this course, graduates have the option to enter the workforce or proceed to Certificate IV in Education Support or Diploma of Children’s Services.
Please note that this program is only available to applicants with demonstrated superior English skills.

COMMUNITY SERVICES II
Community Services is an interesting industry with a range of different services that help to meet the social needs of the community. It is based on the tradition of social welfare, which integrates and applies knowledge from a range of related discipline areas such as sociology, applied psychology, social work and counselling. Students gain specialist communication as well as client support and intervention skills needed to work as a case worker, community support worker, and/or implement health promotion and community interventions.
Work may take place in a range of contexts such as community based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services.

This course is a short course desi
gned for students who want to explore community work. Students will learn about the community services sector and ethical behaviour. Students will also develop skills in communication, information provision and processing, administration support, networking and group support. This course meets the needs of students wishing to enter the Community Services Work industry in areas such as health care, aged care, children’s services and disability services.

CHC40708 CERTIFICATE IV IN COMMUNITY SERVICES WORK (CRICOS Code: 072015G)
This course will further develop students’ practical skills and knowledge to develop services and programs to meet identified needs within the community. Students will learn skills in advanced communication, group work, training, community information provision and program development. Students will also learn how to design and deliver programs that are accessible and enhance community participation, and to develop an understanding of the legal and ethical requirements for working in community services.
DURATION - One Semester – 18 weeks
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS – Completion of 12 years of schooling or equivalent
