Operations Manager

We all enjoy the friendly atmosphere – between staff and students. I particularly enjoy the great nationality mix – it makes classes much more interesting as everyone can participate and bring experience from their own countries to the different subjects.Vocational teaching is teaching the practical aspects – knowing the students are taught practical skills that will be useful to them in the future is very rewarding.

I enjoy the interaction of local and international students at the college, the way they learn from each other and about each other. It’s a great cultural mix!
Graphic Design is a creative, vibrant industry that never stops evolving and which links into other areas like multimedia and web design.
I particularly enjoy the hands-on nature of vocational learning. Students work on practical projects aimed at increasing their overall skills.
At Sterling the students are friendly and staff are very easy to work with.

I really enjoy the mixture of local and international students, the flexible timetable and the individual attention to each student at SBC.  There is so much variety in the subjects and the sense of accomplishment once they are completed is very rewarding.
I lecture and work in the Graphic Design field – it is a very versatile and fulfilling profession.  It’s a deadline driven industry in which the rewards far outweigh the sacrifices.

I’m really pleased to have joined the team at Sterling as I’ve been aware of the College and its students’ reputation since I first began teaching.
My twenty five year background in Hospitality and Retail Management, including ten years as a small Business Owner/Operator, allows me
to pass on the benefits of my varied experiences to the students, which is my passion.

The diversity of Sterling Business College’s staff and students brings a wide range of ideas, skills and awareness into a supportive learning environment. Importantly, the real world experience of the staff and the engaging environment ensures a relevant and applicable education.
I believe that the skills central to business studies are central to all industries and vocations, so finding creative and interesting ways to encourage students to develop new skills and knowledge growth in this area of study is important to me.

What I like most about this College is its dedication to vocational education and training, especially for international students. Having spent many years as a lecturer in Management and Marketing to local and international students, as well as 15 years in the industry as a partner and director, it has always been my goal to eventually pass on, through education, my experiences in this very demanding job role.
Sterling Business College has an environment that I believe is really very ‘user friendly’ and it is where students can come to learn and enjoy the process together.

Areas of specialisation: Travel and Tourism
The career diversity that Travel offers is what keeps me in the industry as both a lecturer and practitioner in wholesale inbound & outbound, and group and incentive travel. I am passionate about training and love passing on my own experiences to the students.
Using the classroom as a simulated office environment and assessing students on job readiness, not academically, is what sets SBC apart from other colleges.
Sterling Business College has great staff and support – everyone is so friendly and helpful, I felt at home within my first week. I particularly love the mix of international and Australian students.

Childcare is such an important part of our community structure and it is essential that we have well trained staff in our centres. I enjoy being able to pass on my experience and knowledge of the childcare industry to those just beginning their careers in this field.
The friendly atmosphere, supportive management and staff, facilities and student input is what I most enjoy about working at Sterling.

Garry Mann

Area of specialisation: Graphic Design
I have 35 years experience – having worked with several prestigious advertising firms in Perth and Melbourne, prior to forming my own design studio.
I had contemplated moving into the training environment for some time as I believe it is important to “give back something” by sharing my experience to those coming into a profession that has given me so much.
Allocating part of my time to teaching while continuing to operate my design studio, allows me to pass on up-to-date knowledge of what is happening in the industry – vital in an industry where technology is changing so rapidly.
Sterling Business College has an ideal learning environment, with the latest computer hardware and software; modern facilities and friendly, helpful staff. I am enjoying working here, passing on my knowledge to enthusiastic up-and-coming graphic designers.

I have worked in the Child Care Industry both in Western Australia and Victoria since 1990 and also spent time in the retail and customer service industry. In my own small business I provide external OH&S Audits of child care centres.
My greatest satisfaction comes from sharing my knowledge and having discussions with students especially about caring for children. I also enjoy hearing about students experiences in the workplace and the world.

Marketing Co-ordinator
The relaxed but professional environment is what sets Sterling apart from other schools and colleges where I have worked. Having ongoing assessments rather than exams, the work still gets done without everyone feeling under pressure. The management is very supportive.
In my marketing and promotions role at Sterling, I am very comfortable talking and writing about the numerous benefits and advantages of studying at Sterling. I truly believe our students benefit from studying here.
Students studying here receive very practical, hands-on employable skills rather than just theoretical knowledge.

After working for many years in international education in Perth, I can and do appreciate the uniqueness of Sterling amongst other institutions I have worked for. Well qualified lecturers, college management style, advanced resources, as well as motivated students, make Sterling the leading vocational institution in Perth.
